The Camino Frances has had a deep and meaningful impact on Jorge de la Rosa’s life and inner world. Before starting this adventure, he found himself in a dark place, battling an intense depression that stayed with him. During that time, Jorge carried a great deal of emotional pain that, however much he tried to ignore it, he could not escape its weight. Every step he took on the Camino became a confrontation with that pain. He had to face his dark feelings and thoughts at every stage of the journey until reaching the Santiago Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
In this fourth chapter of his journey, Jorge realised that the Camino was giving him more moments of solitude. This solitude turned out to be a positive thing, as it gave him the chance for deep introspection. Being alone, he could reflect on and examine the reasons behind his anxiety and the emotional problems that had been affecting him. During this process, some meaningful conversations with a girl he met became catalysts for these feelings. The interactions, though exciting at first, also touched old wounds from his past. These wounds had been hidden, and being touched brought back old patterns of pain that needed to be addressed if he truly wanted to find peace and balance in his life going forward.
Throughout his journey, the Camino surprised Jorge with charming towns such as Logroño. This city is home to the famous Laurel street, a vibrant place full of life and flavour. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to capture images of this beautiful place because of the rain falling at the time. He also passed through Ventosa, among other picturesque villages, where he found a kilometre packed with art that inspired him deeply. As always, his most honest reflections arose in every corner of the Camino, coming straight from the depths of his heart. These reflections were essential, as they helped him understand himself better and recognise what he truly needed to heal and move forward in his life.
