<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/caminodesantiagofrances.com\/en\/leon-province\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"6006\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Provincia de Le\u00f3n<\/a><\/strong>, within the comarca of La Sobarriba, in the autonomous community of Castilla y Le\u00f3n. Located just a few kilometres from the city of Le\u00f3n, this village stands out for its traditional architecture and its connection to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/caminodesantiagofrances.com\/en\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"86\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Camino de Santiago<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Valdelafuente on the Camino de Santiago<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Valdelafuente<\/strong> is crossed by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/caminodesantiagofrances.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"86\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Camino de Santiago<\/a><\/strong>, specifically the Camino Frances. From the village, pilgrims climb up to the Alto del Portillo, from where one of the first panoramic views of the city of Le\u00f3n can be seen. level. It borders Corbillos de la Sobarriba to the north, Villaseca de la Sobarriba and Valdefresno to the northeast, Arcahueja to the southeast, Valdesogo de Arriba to the south, Castrillo de la Ribera and Santa Olaja de la Ribera to the southwest, and the city of Le\u00f3n to the northwest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">History and Heritage of Valdelafuente<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The history of Valdelafuente dates back at least to the year 1119, when it is mentioned in the Cartulario de Eslonza. The village was part of the old Hermandad de La Sobarriba, an organisation that brought together various settlements in the comarca for shared defence and administration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among its heritage, the parish church dedicated to San Juan Bautista and San Mam\u00e9s stands out, with festivities celebrated on 24 June and 17 August respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Demographics of Valdelafuente<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The population of Valdelafuente has grown slightly in recent decades, rising from 157 inhabitants in 2000 to 274 in 2017, according to INE data.
