streams, a tributary of the r\u00edo Esla, Valverde de la Virgen has an oceanic Mediterranean climate (Csb according to K\u00f6ppen). Summers are warm and dry, while winters are cold and partly cloudy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">History of Valverde de la Virgen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The municipality was created in the mid-19th century as a result of an administrative reorganisation that affected the town councils between the r\u00edos \u00d3rbigo and Bernesga. Until 1916, it was called <strong>Valverde del Camino<\/strong>, changing its name to <strong>Valverde de la Virgen<\/strong> in honour of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/caminodesantiagofrances.com\/en\/saints\/our-lady-of-the-way\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"8954\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Virgen del Camino<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Religious Heritage of Valverde de la Virgen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Sanctuary of the Virgen del Camino<\/strong>, declared patroness of the Le\u00f3n region in 1914, is a pilgrimage centre of great importance. In 1917, Pope Benedict XV authorised the canonical coronation of the image, consolidating its spiritual significance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Festivities of Valverde de la Virgen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Valverde de la Virgen celebrates numerous festivities, most notably the romer\u00eda of San Froil\u00e1n, which brings together thousands of pilgrims at the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Camino.
