Herrer\u00edas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Las Herrer\u00edas<\/strong> is a charming hamlet located in the municipality of <strong><strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/caminodesantiagofrances.com\/en\/leon-province\/vega-de-valcarce\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"11854\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vega de Valcarce<\/a><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>, in the Comarca of El Bierzo, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/caminodesantiagofrances.com\/en\/leon-province\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"6006\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Province of Le\u00f3n<\/a><\/strong>. class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">History of Las Herrer\u00edas<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The name <strong>Las Herrer\u00edas<\/strong> (&#8220;the Forges&#8221;) comes from the historic ironworking trade that developed in the area thanks to the presence of <strong>mineral deposits<\/strong> and abundant mountain water. Since the Middle Ages, this village was known for its forges, which served farmers, muleteers and pilgrims, forging tools, horseshoes and travel implements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This artisanal past is reflected both in the name and in the identity of the place, where an air of tradition and self-sufficiency can still be felt.
