History of Revenga de Campos

The origins of Revenga de Campos date back to the 10th century, as attested by historical documents that mention the place as “Revendica”. Over the centuries, the population has undergone significant demographic shifts. In 1900, it had 840 inhabitants, a figure that has steadily declined to reach 137 inhabitants in 2024. This trend reflects the socioeconomic and migratory changes that have affected many rural areas of Spain.

Church of San Lorenzo

The Church of San Lorenzo is the main religious monument in Revenga de Campos. Originally built in the 13th century, the church has undergone various renovations, particularly in the 16th century, adopting elements of the Baroque style. The structure has a single nave of considerable size, with a barrel vault and a three-tiered tower combining stone and brick. Inside, notable features include several 17th- and 18th-century altarpieces, as well as a 15th-century image of the Virgen del Peregrino (Our Lady of the Pilgrim).
