According to Pascual Madoz’s dictionary (1845-1850), the town had 70 houses, an elementary school and a parish church dedicated to San Juan Evangelista. The land was dry farmland, producing flax, wheat, rye, barley, legumes and vegetables, as well as pasture for livestock and partridge and rabbit hunting.
