O Coto is a small hamlet in the municipality of Melide, the first in A Coruna Province on the Camino Frances.
Its value for pilgrims is above all symbolic: here the Camino leaves Lugo Province behind, after Casanova and Porto de Bois, and enters both A Coruña and the municipality of Melide, the last province of the journey. From this point the goal starts to feel close, with Santiago just over fifty kilometres away. The hamlet is a cluster of a few houses, with no monuments or documented history to highlight, although it has some accommodation and a bar right on the route that make it a comfortable place to rest. From here the Camino descends gently towards O Leboreiro, one of the best-preserved medieval ensembles of this stage.
