What is there in Zuriáin

Zuriáin (Zuriain in Basque) is a village in the valley and municipality of Esteríbar, in Navarra, on the Camino Frances.

The Camino reaches Zuriáin by crossing the Arga on a bridge and, for a few hundred metres, shares the hard shoulder of the Pamplona road: one of the few noisy moments on an otherwise riverside stage, so stay alert before turning off again towards Irotz. The village, with about seventy residents, appears in documents from the late 11th century and for centuries paid taxes both to the crown and to Roncesvalles. It lived from farming and its flour mill, and keeps the Gothic church of San Millán, with a star vault, a Rococo altarpiece and a medieval carving of the Virgin and Child. Note: if you are looking for somewhere to stop, services here are minimal.
