This hostel is in the charming old town of the city of Astorga, right behind the Town Hall, and sits on the route of the Camino de Santiago Frances, making it a very convenient option for travellers looking for a place to rest.

This hostel opened its doors in 2006 and has since been run by a group of volunteer hospitaleros belonging to the local Camino de Santiago association. It is interesting to note that the building housing the Siervas de María hostel has a rich history. Until 2004, this place operated as a convent, adding a touch of tradition and spirituality to its atmosphere. It also stands on the very spot where, nearly a thousand years ago, the Hospital de San Feliz once stood. This hospital was one of many medieval hospitals that cared for pilgrims arriving in Astorga, showing the city’s long and rich history as an important waypoint for those journeying to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in the city of Santiago de Compostela.

It is worth mentioning that this hostel also issues the Pilgrim Credential, an essential document for those walking the Camino de Santiago.
