As for its architectural style, it combines characteristic features such as a Medieval Tower, Gothic Naves and Baroque Finials.

This religious building stands with a notable presence, built in stone on a small rise that gives it a majestic air. The church has two naves of great height and volume. These naves extend inward and include a transept and a square-shaped east end. Buttresses reinforcing the naves can also be seen, as well as at the corners of the main entrance on the facade.

The tower stands over the transept side, its upper section featuring a Baroque design that adds a decorative touch to the structure. The main doorway, added at a later period, is designed with a round arch, flanked by pilasters supporting a niche. Completing its appearance is a pediment finial covering the ensemble. Gothic windows added to the east end can also be found, along with other popular features that contribute to the church’s unique character.

It is also worth noting that the church stands on a mound where the castle of Tardajos once stood. This suggests that the present-day tower may be a remnant of that ancient fortress that once dominated the area.

It belongs to the Archdiocese of Burgos and, within the church’s organisation, is assigned to the archpriesthood of San Juan de Ortega. Today, the parish priest in charge of the church is D. Francisco Javier Valdivieso Saiz, who oversees the religious activities and the community that gathers at this sacred place.
