Oasis Trails Pilgrims’ Hostel
The Oasis Trails Pilgrims’ Hostel is a place of rest and serenity for walkers on the Camino de Santiago, an ideal meeting point for those seeking peace, community, and a welcoming atmosphere on their pilgrimage. This hostel is located in Villamayor de Monjardin, a picturesque village in Navarra, right in the heart of the Camino de Santiago Frances, the most popular route among pilgrims making this ancient journey toward the Cathedral of Santiago in the city of Santiago de Compostela.
History and Founding of the Oasis Trails Hostel
Oasis Trails was founded in 1997 by two young Dutch people with the dream of creating a special space for pilgrims, inspired by their own spiritual and travel experiences. One of them had previously made a pilgrimage along the hippie trail to India, where he found profound answers and a life change upon encountering Jesus. Motivated by this transformative encounter, they decided to establish a refuge that would not only offer a place to rest, but also provide a space for reflection and personal growth.
The Oasis Trails Dutch Christian Foundation, which continues to be responsible for the hostel, has kept this purpose alive since its opening, offering a space for pilgrims to rest both physically and spiritually. The hostel’s location, in an old rustic house overlooking the beautiful valley, is the perfect setting for pilgrims to feel at home, surrounded by nature and tranquility.
