A Parrocha

What is there in A Parrocha

A Parrocha is a small hamlet in the municipality of Paradela, in Lugo Province, on the Camino Frances.

After a rise and some tarmac slopes, the Camino descends to A Parrocha, a cluster of a few houses that is the last but one hamlet in Paradela before crossing the Miño. It has no monuments or documented history of its own, so its role is simple and honest: a pleasant downhill stretch between stone walls, meadows and oaks, with the view opening ever wider over the river basin, the natural border between the municipalities of Paradela and Portomarín. It is a good moment to pace your legs, because the slope towards the Belesar reservoir steepens in the last kilometres. Immediately afterwards comes Vilachá, the last village before the bridge.
