What is there in Moutras
Moutras (Moutrás) is a small hamlet in the parish of Santiago de Laxe, in the municipality of Paradela, in Lugo Province, on the Camino Frances.
With about ten inhabitants, Moutras is little more than a group of stone houses on the slope down towards the Miño, past Mercadoiro. There are no monuments or documented historical episodes to recount, and it would be untrue to embellish it; what pilgrims find is a small shop beside the Camino selling food, drinks, pharmacy items and some crafts, very handy on a stretch with few services. From here the path steepens and looks out more and more over the Miño valley and its terraced vineyards, now in the Ribeira Sacra, as A Parrocha and Vilachá follow before Portomarín.
