San Cristóbal do Real (San Cristovo do Real) is a village in the municipality of Samos, in Lugo Province, on the Camino Frances.
It is the first village on the variant from Triacastela to Sarria via the monastery of Samos, and one of the prettiest on this stretch. With about twenty residents, it sits beside the river Oribio, whose waters are shared out through an ingenious system of channels to water the meadows, and keeps a church of Romanesque origin with a 17th-century Baroque altarpiece of popular style and Solomonic columns. From here the tarmac is left behind and pilgrims enter the so-called Camino Real del Oribio, named because it was the road kings used to reach the monastery. It is a path through riverside woodland, chestnuts and oaks, one of the coolest and shadiest of the whole route in Galicia.
