Ribadiso (Ribadiso da Baixo) is a small hamlet in the municipality of Arzúa, in A Coruna Province, on the Camino Frances.
For many it is one of the loveliest spots on the Camino in Galicia. After descending into the valley, you cross the river Iso on a small medieval stone bridge and, just beyond it, the old 15th-century hospital of San Antón de Ponte de Ribadiso appears, restored as a group of little stone and slate houses by the riverbank. It is the only one of the old pilgrim hospitals on the Galician section of the Camino Frances still fulfilling its original function, now a public Xunta hostel. In summer the calm stretch of river by the bridge is used as a river beach, and you often see pilgrims with their feet in the water. We are about 42 kilometres from Santiago and just over two from Arzúa, reached after a climb.
From Ribadiso to Arzúa it is about 3.5 km.
To A Calle de Ferreiros it is about 8 km.
And to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, in Santiago de Compostela, about 42.8 km remain.
