Portos is a small hamlet in the municipality of Palas de Rei, in Lugo Province, on the Camino Frances.
It is the first place in the municipality of Palas de Rei that pilgrims set foot in, a cluster of a few houses that, on its own, has no monuments or notable documented history. Its importance lies in a signpost: from here the detour of just over two kilometres leaves for the church of San Salvador de Vilar de Donas, a former priory of the Order of Santiago and burial place of its knights for centuries. It is one of the great treasures of Galician Romanesque, with a doorway of very rich archivolts and Gothic wall paintings depicting, among other figures, the ladies (donas) who gave the place its name. Plan your time well, because it means coming back to the Camino afterwards, but those who do it rarely regret it. The main route continues towards Lestedo.
