What is there in Itero de la Vega

Itero de la Vega is a town and municipality in the Tierra de Campos district, the first in Palencia Province on the Camino Frances.

As soon as you cross the Pisuerga on the Itero bridge, you change province and landscape: the Tierra de Campos begins, flat, open and with endless horizons. The first Palencian greeting is the hermitage of La Piedad, a small 13th-century Gothic church with a single nave and rib vault, originally called Nuestra Señora de Carrelapuente because it stood near the river. In the village, of about a hundred and fifty residents, you find the church of San Pedro, with a 17th-century Baroque altarpiece, and a Renaissance jurisdictional column from 1529, listed as a Site of Cultural Interest. Itero is a good place for a rest before the eight kilometres of open country that lead to Boadilla del Camino.
