Chapter 3 | Puente la Reina – Torres del Rio with Jorge de la Rosa

The Camino Frances was an experience that marked a turning point in Jorge de la Rosa’s life. At that time, he was dealing with a deep depression and carried within him a pain he didn’t know how to express. Every step he took along this path became a confrontation with that sadness and suffering, though it also gave him the chance to heal it little by little. The process of walking toward Santiago de Compostela became a path of emotional and spiritual healing.

In this third chapter of his journey, Jorge ventured into landscapes that were truly beautiful and moving. Some of these places were more arid and desert-like, which contrasted with others that were much greener and full of life. In some way, the changes in the surroundings mirrored the transformation he was going through inside. Along this stretch, he also had the chance to meet fascinating people such as Girolamo, a pilgrim who had already been on the road for more than five months. His dedication and perseverance inspired Jorge in his own steps.

He also met Jesús Alcoz, affectionately known as the blacksmith of the Camino. Jesús runs the artistic forge, a family business located on the outskirts of Ayegui. This place is known for the quality of its work and the artistic pieces it creates, which have become a symbol of the Camino for many pilgrims.

Throughout his journey, many charming towns awaited Jorge, among them the beautiful city of Estella. Each of these places was full of history and culture, inviting him to pause and reflect on his own life and the decisions he had made. As he walked, he was sometimes alone and other times surrounded by a group of wonderful people, each of them adding something unique to his experience. These friendships he was forming along the Camino were becoming an important part of who he was, leaving an indelible mark on his heart.
