Stage 19 runs from León to San Martín del Camino, covering 25 kilometres of trail. Then, stage 20 stretches from San Martín del Camino to Astorga, covering 22 kilometres. Finally, stage 21 continues the route from Astorga to Foncebadón, a distance of 25 kilometres.
The pilgrimage along the Camino Frances marked a significant milestone in Jorge de la Rosa’s inner life. At that time, he was emerging from a depressive period, carrying an intense inner pain that he had to face with every step toward Santiago.
Just as in life itself, the pilgrimage has its ups and downs. Up to this point, his journey has been marked by a succession of emotions, reaching this moment where light is gradually beginning to filter through.
Along this stretch, Jorge has the chance to explore charming places such as Astorga, a town steeped in history; San Martín del Camino, known as the curious “oasis of the gods”; and Foncebadón, a peculiar hamlet that will offer shelter from the rain before reaching the Cruz de Ferro.
