The Camino de Santiago Frances marked a turning point in the inner life of Jorge de la Rosa in a very profound way. At that time, he was going through depression, a difficult period in which he had built up a great deal of pain and sadness inside. Every step he took on the Camino required Jorge to face those feelings and that suffering he carried within. It was a journey that was not only physical, but also emotional and spiritual, where every metre walked brought him a little closer to the healing and peace he needed so much.
In this eleventh episode of his adventure, Jorge had to say goodbye once again to the group he had been walking with. This was hard for him, since he had formed meaningful bonds with those people along the way. However, his flight ticket had been booked in advance, and he was committed to reaching the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in the city of Santiago de Compostela by a specific date. While the rest of the group could take their time and enjoy the Camino at a calmer pace, Jorge was forced to follow a different path, which filled him with sadness at leaving them behind, since he had learned a great deal with them and shared unforgettable moments.
Despite that farewell, Jorge wanted to highlight that he felt better and better every day. He felt truly proud of the inner work he had done over that last month. He had had the chance to uncover many hidden aspects of himself, especially those belonging to his past. He recognised wounds he still needed to work on in the months ahead, but despite the occasional setback, Galicia was treating him wonderfully. Every day, Jorge felt he was making progress and growing.
Along the way, spectacular towns awaited, such as Palas de Rei, where the beauty of the landscape invited him to stop and enjoy it. There was also Melide, famous for its Pulpería Ezequiel, an iconic spot to try delicious Galician-style octopus. He couldn’t forget to mention Arzúa, known for its brewery, which had become very popular among peregrinos. Although the end of the Camino was drawing near, Jorge wanted to point out that his heart was happier than ever. He felt deep gratitude for the experiences he had lived and the lessons he had learned, and he knew this journey had changed him forever.
