Camino Frances in the Chartered Community of Navarra
The Camino de Santiago Frances in Navarra, also called the Camino Navarro or the Franco-Navarrese Jacobean route, is one of the routes that form part of the Camino de Santiago in Spain. It was taken by pilgrims coming from the north of France and central Europe, as well as those coming from the routes of Tours, Vézelay and Le Puy. They crossed the Pyrenees via the Roncesvalles Pass to Puente la Reina de Navarra, joining at that town with the pilgrims who had crossed the Pyrenees via Somport, in Aragon, coming from Europe via the Vía Tolosana and continuing along the Aragonese route.
From Puente la Reina begins what is known as the Camino de Santiago Frances which continues on to Santiago de Compostela.
